October Lessons

I've learned a couple things this month. DO NOT carve your pumpkins at the beginning of October in Tucson. I thought I was being all good, gettin' mine carved, ready to show off on our front porch. After day 3 or 4, they were good and ready to throw in the garbage. Molding, warping, collapsing little jack-o-lanterns. Ewwww.

One would also believe that October would bring perfect weather to visit the pumpkin patch. Think again my friends. Not that it's so unbearably hot that you melt like a pop-cycle or fry like an egg on the sidewalk...just uncomfortable enough that you would choose to wear nice, cool, clothing and wear eye protection. But did I think of that? Not so much. I choose a three quarters arm length sweater, dark jeans, shoes and socks. And because I thought this would be an ideal time for a family photo, I also made Richie wear a long-sleeve button up shirt, dark jeans, shoes, and socks. Poor little Mylie was also dressed for a cooler day. It was so bright we couldn't keep our eyes opened very well for a picture. So much for a cute family pumpkin patch picture. Here's the best we could get. Just look at those squinty, watery eyes!!!

Angie can I just say how freakin gorgeous you are!! I am serious!

Anyway those pictures are still cute but I totally know what you are sayin about the heat. It's the same here in Vegas. I like it most of the time but then other times I would like to change my wardrobe. I am so sick of my summer stuff!

Love ya!

Hey I'm totally up for practicing taking your family photos when I come down or when you come up. I would be more than willing to watch Mylie when you go to the temple. She's such a cutie.

Guess what I learned at the the pumpkin patch I visited this weekend...how to perserve fruit/pumpkins!! You add half floor wax and half water. Then dunk the fruit in many times until it's all soaked into the fruit. Then let it dry. Go figure!! I hate the heat!!

Yep! Just like everyone else said...cute pictures!! That's how our pumpkin patch day was...I thought oh it's a little overcast it will be a really nice fall day...nope!! By the time we got there the sun had come out and I was way over-dress!! It is quite miserable to be hot, I agree!!

You guys are cute and look so happy! Can't wait to see you!!

Did you go to Buckelew Farm?? It kinda looks like it, that's the pumpkin patch that we go to every year. This year it was the weekend that the "cold" front BLEW through town. I haven't been in wind like that since Holbrook. I finally remembered to put on the summer clothes, but still keep the socks and shoes for the dusty field. We didn't carve our pumpkins yet, but one has still gone bad anyway. I think I'll just let the boys paint the remaining pumpkins that haven't gone bad. :) I LOVE THE FAMILY PICTURES!
